Everyone who has run knows that its most important value is in removing tension and allowing a release from whatever other cares the day may bring. ~Jimmy Carter
I am really missing my training runs. I ended up taking the whole week off and by Friday I could feel the tension built up in my body. When I run I forget about my stresses from work and life. Without running this week, I felt the anxiety swelling in me. Other forms of cardio are not the same.
I did find another way to relax this weekend. On Saturday, a group of us went to New Orleans to see the Broadway musical comedy, The Addams Family. We had a wonderful time beginning with a New Orleans lunch at Drago’s and drinks at the new Walk-Ons.
Even though The Addams Family was panned by critics as bland and boring, I enjoyed it. It had some really hilarious lines about growing old and the nature of love, and the choreography for the dance numbers was admirable.
On the way home, we stopped at The Bone Fish Grill in Baton Rouge and enjoyed mussels, shrimp, scallops, and tuna sashimi. That was a yummy ending to the evening.
What did you do this weekend? Did anyone get to run?
