This message, “Clear It Out,” turned up several times in my life this weekend. Not only in spring cleaning and weeding the flowerbeds, but also in the weekend homily. The homily message was about clearing out pride, jealousy, and envy. Then later at Girls’ Night Out, it also became a topic of discussion. We chatted about the value of friendship and “clearing out” people in our lives who don’t add to the quality of it. I was impressed by the deliberate decision two friends told me they made to be surrounded by people who share in their beliefs, goals, and attitudes.
Here’s a new topic for a list inspired by my two friends last night:
What people in my life will help me attain my goals? Who will enhance my life? Who will encourage me and want me to be happy and successful? Life is about the choices you make. Choose sensibly. (Thanks, girls! You are two amazing, strong women that I love to have in my life!)
Saturday is our long, slow run. It used to be a 10-mile run, but Terri and I ran 6 miles yesterday. We were content with our run and will continue to build it back up. Today we have our first bike ride together planned for this evening.
Here is a move I did this morning as part of my workout routine. Hold each move for as long as you can, trying to work up to one minute.
Plank, Side Plank, Push-up
Muscles Worked: Lower back, chest, shoulders, triceps, abs
- Start in Push-up position keeping your hands directly under your shoulders. Balance on your palms and the balls of your feet. Pull your belly button in. Hold for 1 minute.
- Rotate to Side plank. Keep your belly button pulled in and body in a straight line from head to toe. Hold for 1 minute.
- Rotate back to Plank and execute a Push-up. For an extra challenge, hover above the ground for as long as you can before pushing back up into the Plank.
