Ready or Not

Do the work. Do the analysis. But feel your run. Feel your race. Feel the joy that is running.
~Kara Goucher

My first half marathon is Sunday! “Imagine running 13.1 miles under mammoth moss covered oaks, past historic homes and along Lakeshore Drive as the sun sparkles across the water.” (from the Gulf Coast Half Marathon website) I’m so excited, but also very nervous.

I had to slack off of the training recently due to my IT Band. I plan on following Kara Goucher’s above advice and feel my run and race. I am nervous about not being able to finish because of the pain that usually hits around mile 4. For this reason, I can’t seem to set any goals for this race. My plan is to set 3 race goals tomorrow and write them down. Plan A will be my best case scenario, plan B will be if the pain in my knee is throbbing, and Plan C will be if I see I can’t finish.

Ready or not, here comes my first half!
